An au pair is a young person from a foreign country, normally aged 18-30 & unmarried and has no children living with a local host family, learns their language and culture.
The term “au pair” from French means “on equal terms”, therefore an au pair is considered a member of the host family during her entire stay. An au pair gets free accommodation, regular meals and pocket money for personal expenses and in return she provides services such as childcare and light household chores for the host family.
The main purpose of the au pair placement is a Cultural Exchange and therefore an au pair is neither a domestic helper nor a full time nanny!
Maidcity has been very successful in placement of au pair. Since 2005 Maidcity has helped hundreds of host families in Europe and Scandinavia.
